I apologize for being away for so long...no worries, I am alive and well. Work has been keeping me extremely busy over the last four weeks, but I hope to regain at least a smidge of the free time I used to have. Since I last blogged, I was promoted at work and have been working 12+ hour days and weekends. Throw in a couple business trips, a blizzard, and a weekend trip to Miami, and it all added up to = no time to blog.

So much has happened in the world since my last post....the Olympics have come and gone, Britney threw caution to the wind (and almost her baby), Cheney shot his best friend while hunting, Brokeback Mountain continues to dominate at the box office, Mariah got ripped off at the Grammy’s, and just as I really started to think my ipod Video made me cool rumors start flying about the NEW Video ipod.

...and it's on Brokeback Mountain apparently. While in Paris this weekend, I took a snapshot of the movie poster for Brokeback. They were ALL over the place. And how appropriate, as it won FOUR Golden Globes last night, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Paris was a blast this weekend...the weather was amazing, the food even better and it was all topped off with some amazing sales. I snatched up some very fancy shoes. More pictures to come....

Happy New Year everyone! I have to admit, I made the decision on Jan 2 that I was ready for 2007 already. I'm predicting big things for 2007! But, first things first...there's a lot happening right now:

*Cabo was fun...great weather, great guacamole and even better company! I'll be posting pictures soon. However, I just got word that last week, while we were there, that two gay men got booted from the Intercontinental Hotel because they were being GAY and kissing in the pool. My source is pretty reliable, although the story has not been reported in media yet. Stay tuned for details.

*Lindsay Lohan, in Feb Vanity Fair, finally admits to drug use and bulimia. SHOCKER! I mean, really, who knew she was snorting cocaine in Miami Club bathroom last July (as reported by Amy and Rita)??

*Ricky Martin caught frolicking with half-brother/personal trainer/lover? in St. Barth's last week. HOT pictures.

Ford, Brokeback, and The Ricky/Nate Rumor

Ford actually does the right thing and reverses their decision to cut advertising in gay publications and sponsorship of LGBT events and organizations. Props to Ford for not caving to pressures of the AFA. As it turns out, the AFA is now speaking out and is admitting that they did strike a secret deal with Ford. I'm sure they'll quickly re-issue that boycott threat.

It's been almost a week now since I've seen it (hint: I'm a huge slacker)....but I have to say that Brokeback Mountain met all my expectations. It's an amazing film that you all should see. Heath and Jake turn it out and are both fantastic in the film. Michelle Williams (of Dawson's Creek fame) plays the mousy bare footed housewife perfectly and Ann Hathaway (of Princess Diaries) shines and shows that she is a true actress. You should see her hair and clothes in the movie, truly classic!

And last but not least....I may have told some of you about the Ricky Martin/Nate Berkus rumor. Well, it seems that Oprah may be spilling the beans. Okay, I doubt it, but check out this link about today's show.

Oh, one more thing.....Congrats to Heather and Mark. Love you guys!!!!

Ford, shame on you. It appears that Ford has caved into the pressures of the AFA (American Family Association). All the facts are coming out right now, but it appears (allegedly) that Ford struck a secret deal with the AFA, in which Ford agreed to pull all advertising in gay publications in exchange for the AFA calling off their boycott threat. Ford is claiming their decision to cut gay advertising was strictly a "business decision". What do you think? Oh, and the two individuals from Ford who brokered the deal with the AFA are former Bush cronies.

*Cheers to Laura for her NWA win. Glenn and I experienced a similar victory last week with American. After another disastrous experience when we flew to Germany for a wedding three weeks ago, American came through and awarded us both 15,000 miles. Drum roll please....that's a total of 25,000 miles AA has awarded this year because of my lame ass complaints. Bring it!

*Montreal: a fun, dirty city. I was back in Montreal this week for business. Of course, I was back at Campus, hangin' with my peeps. This time it was Franco and Alexander. Alexander wouldn't allow too much touching...it's what makes him "special". Not for $10 CAN!! Moving on.

A few things about living in New York...

With Cara visiting me from Oregon this week, I've realized a few things about the city I've lived in for nearly 5 years:

*People stare: Cara pointed this out and I never really noticed it before. Then, I started to pay attention to it, and it's so true. I have even caught myself staring at random people. And no Glenn, I'm not checking out other guys. I catch myself starring at women, dogs, children....anything that catches my attention.

*Rats and Roaches are everywhere: I've gotten used to this by now, but it still freaks me out a little. A rat crossed our path last night and a roach almost climbed up Cara's back.

*It seems like there are about 1/2 million restaurants and bars in this city. And, on any given day, at least 5 of them are closing and reopening under new names. I can't keep up anymore.

Last night was a wild night...the children gathered to celebrate the 30th birthday of a close friend (who will remain unnamed) and the night got very hot and dirrrrty when the stripper arrived (who will also remain unnamed. While Spain and Canada both pass Gay Marriage Rights this week, the US still hasn't figured it out. It's NOT about religion, morals, or the "destruction of society"...it's about CIVIL rights. Bushie continues to support a ban on gay marriage. The thing that irks me is that Bush actually came out a few weeks before the Nov '04 election and supported civil unions (not marriage, but some would see as a step forward). He's clearly pandering to the religious right who pay his 'bills'. Americans need to WAKE UP and realize that our government, like all others in the world, are corrupt and powered by greed and money.

I believe this is their strategy: support ban on gay marriage and use fear (yes, again) to drive Americans to push (at the state level) for constitutional amendments to ban gay marriage. In order to do this, it has to be voted on by the citizens of that state. Whenever an issue like this goes to a mass vote, the outcome is almost always terrible. Imagine if interracial marriage went to a vote??? It would have NEVER passed. Where would we be in our fight against racism??

News Flash: Americans Unhappy with Bush

A big holla back to all the idiots you voted for Bush in November. Just months into his second term, a new poll finds Bushie's approval ratings at an all new low:

*42% of those polled are satisfied with Bush's overall job performance.
*Only 25% approve of Bush's handling of social security!

Another newsflash, Iraq is a total mess and Americans know it:

*51% of those polled think we should have stayed out of Iraq.
*Only 37% of those polled approve of Bush's handling of Iraq.

The only area Bush seems to do somewhat okay is in his "handling of war on terrorism". 52% approved of his work here. To me, this is a stroke of pure luck for Bush. He's done little to protect our country from another terrorist attack. Sad, but true, they (the nut job terrorists) are just waiting to attack again.

FURTHERMORE...information has popped up that Bush and Blair conspired together back in 2002 to invade Iraq. It's called The Downing Street Memo. Check it out.

Complaining Pays

As a follow up to my posting about complaining a few weeks ago, I recently experienced another success...this time, with American Airlines. While traveling to Germany earlier this month, my first flight out of NYC to London was delayed by about an hour and half due to a mechanical problem. This set off a chain of events that culminated in a shitty travel day. I complained to American about this when I got back and cheers!-they gave me a 15,000 mile credit to my AA account. Shout out to American Airlines. Holla back now.
